The audio inside the MP4 is SoundCloud's own AAC stream copied as-is, so the sound is identical to what plays on SoundCloud. The picture is the track's artwork at up to 720×720; if a track has no artwork we make a clean title card.

Most social apps don't accept MP3 uploads but all accept MP4. Converting to MP4 lets you post a preview of your own track to Stories, Reels or a YouTube upload, or send it in WhatsApp as a video.

MP3 and M4A are audio-only and smallest. MP4 adds a still image so it's slightly bigger, but it's the format video platforms expect. Pick M4A for listening, MP4 for sharing.

The video is made inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded to us. The first MP4 takes a few extra seconds while the video engine loads; after that each one is quick. Desktop is fastest for long DJ mixes.

The MP4 is 720 × 720 pixels (square, like the artwork), H.264 video at a still frame rate and the original AAC audio. It's small — usually only a little bigger than the audio alone — and plays on every phone, TV, laptop and social app.

Convert to MP4, open YouTube Studio › Create › Upload video and choose the file. YouTube shows square videos with side bars, which is normal for music uploads. Only upload tracks you own or have permission to share.

Both apps accept the square MP4 from your camera roll. On iPhone save it from Files to Photos first (Share › Save Video). Trim it to your favourite 15–60 seconds inside the app.

WhatsApp plays MP4 inline in chats, while MP3s show as a file. Converting to MP4 makes the song play with its cover right in the conversation.
